EcoWorld's LEOTC Schools Programme
It's full of fun and interactive, inquiry based activities
EcoWorld’s knowledgeable staff strive to give you an outstanding, educational experience. They will share with you some interesting facts about New Zealand's amazing native animals that live in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds. They will also help you better understand sustainability issues that pose threats to these local species and what you can do about it.
We are deeply committed to the WHO Sustainability Development Goals and are here to educate and inform everyone about current climate issues facing the survival of our species.
Adaptable to teacher and student needs. We work with you to develop the learning opportunities you may require.
Students will gain knowledge and understanding about many aspects of the unique Marlborough Sounds environment and its threats and provide positive learning experiences, designed to enthuse students.
In all programmes students are involved in interactive, hands on fun and enquiry-based activities.
Learning Outcomes
Explore and gain knowledge about the natural history of the Marlborough Sounds and its biodiversity
Identify past and present threats to the Marlborough Sounds ecosystem
To suggest ideas and actions we can all do to help keep the Marlborough Sounds ecosystem healthy
EcoWorld Aquarium (1.5 hrs)

Seahorses - NZ pot-bellied seahorses
Giant Squid “Monster of deep” (preserved 5m)
Powelliphanta - giant land snails,
Fish - species from the Marlborough Sounds
Lizards, frogs, turtle refuge
Orca and Hectors Dolphin - life size models
Red & Yellow Kakariki - endangered native parrots
